Why the name Sherpa?  In the Himalayas, the native guides that assist climbers to the top of Everest are called Sherpas. Sherpas have a global reputation because:
  • They  predict  weather that makes a climb dangerous or impossible.
  • They know the terrain and design routes for the climb.
  • They offer suggestions, ideas and the 'tools of the trade':  skills and resources needed for the climb.

Sherpa coaches take on the role of the Sherpa climbing guide: enabling, advising and assisting in difficult environments with limited options.

Sherpa coaching clients, like climbers on Everest, must endure the hardships, put forth the effort, and be subject to the risks involved in reaching their goals. Ultimately, they must reach the summit through their own skill and determination.

In the process of taking leaders to the top, the authors of "The Sherpa Guide" have gathered stories: inspiring, astonishing and informative looks at why leaders fold, and how they win.

Brenda Corbett hails from Montreal and Toronto. Her degree from Canada's finest University has been a springboard to a brilliant consulting and writing career. She’s authored three books, including “The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching”, and numerous articles on leadership.  Brenda developed the first “work ethic” training for front line staff and the earliest “soft skills” training for front line supervisors.

Now, she’s taken it from the front lines to the boardroom with the Sherpa Coaching process, setting the gold standard for America’s hottest new profession. With the Sherpa Coaching process, she’s provided the “operating system” for the budding field of executive coaching. Ms. Corbett’s ideas change individuals and organizations, and create better places to work. Clients including  L’Oreal, US Bank and TriHealth, Cincinnati's Best Place To Work, call on her facilitation and coaching skills on a regular basis.   ( full bio here
